Elya’s award-winning senior thesis
Elya graduates from UCLA
Attached herewith is Elya Marie Filler’s Senior Thesis titled “Sex in the Company of Soldiers: The Role of Japan’s Comfort System and U.S. Military Prostitution in the Development of Eastern Asia’s Contemporary Sex Industry.”
Elya is the recipient of the Global Studies Senior Thesis Award for 2008-2009 at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her paper was chosen unanimously by a panel of faculty members for the top honor.
Also included is her Statistics paper on voting trends during economic crises.

dear family,
basti graduated with a nursing degree last may 19th at the university of the cordilleras (formerly baguio colleges foundation); here are some pictures we took at the house after the program, he didnt order any from the school photographer.
some weeks before graduation day, basti together with some other students were recognized for their achievements. he was one of those recognized for best in operating room nursing, best in emergency room nursing, and best in surgical nursing.
he is presently reviewing for the professional regulation commission licensure exams scheduled this june 11 & 12. he has also submitted his application for the california state board exams for nurses. please pray with us for basti’s plans to be blessed by God so that before the year is over, he could make it to california, take and pass the state board exam, find a job, and legally stay there.
